Price Guard – FAQ
What does Price Guard protect?
Price Guard protects WooCommerce regular price values during admin save operations. It helps detect and stop suspicious price changes before they are stored.
Does the plugin change storefront pricing or discounts?
No. It does not manage frontend promotions, coupons, sales rules, or dynamic pricing. It focuses only on suspicious regular price changes during save operations.
Which product types are supported?
The plugin supports:
- simple products
- product variations
What happens in warning mode?
In warning mode, the new regular price is still saved, but the plugin shows a warning notice when the change exceeds the configured threshold.
What happens in block mode?
In block mode, the suspicious regular price is rejected, the previous regular price is restored, and an error notice is shown to the admin user.
Can I allow a blocked price if the change is intentional?
Yes. In Pro mode, blocked alerts include the Approve this price action. This applies the blocked price immediately without disabling the protection globally.
Does approving a blocked price disable the plugin?
No. Approval only applies to that specific blocked change. It does not change your settings and does not disable protection for future saves.
Does the page need to reload after approval?
No. The approved price is applied immediately, and the visible field is synced without requiring a full page reload.
Where can I review suspicious events?
Open:
BiltsevTools > Price Guard Logs
The logs include event details such as product ID, old price, new price, deviation, and action.
Can the plugin send email notifications?
Yes. When enabled, the plugin can send an email when a suspicious price change is detected. You can use a custom notification email or fall back to the site admin email.
What if the product does not have an old regular price yet?
If the previous regular price is empty or zero, anomaly detection does not run for that save.
Does the plugin require WooCommerce?
Yes. WooCommerce must be installed and active for Price Guard to work correctly.
What should I do before enabling block mode on a live store?
Use warning mode first, review your thresholds, enable logging, and test both simple products and variations before switching to full enforcement.
